What does it cost?
There is no charge. It’s completely free to host or participate in joint actions on Civic Shout.
What do signers see—and is their data safe?
Unlike Action Network, or similar services, when people sign a joint action on Civic Shout they are not added to 4–5 other lists blindly via an algorithm.
Instead, they are 1) only joining your list when they sign your petition, and 2) after signing, they are redirected to our “suggested actions carousel”, where they can browse a stack of related actions in a Tinder-style experience and can choose if they want to join any group’s list or not.
Years of our data show that on average, folks only join 0.5 (less than 1) lists at this stage. They may see a lot of actions, but join notably fewer lists compared to the “list swap” joint actions that you’re familiar with—which is better for them and you.
Further, contact data are never just handed out and people are never emailed without their opt-in consent. Ever.
There’s no fine print buried in our Terms of Service that contradicts this or that enables us to do shady things with your or anyone else's data.

Will you help me recruit participant groups?
By default, every joint action gets a basic listing on our website and in our admin app, where hundreds of Civic Shout partners can see it.
And if your recruiting drives signatures up fast, your action is also eligible to be promoted across:

- The twice-weekly Civic Shout Newsletter, which has 4,500+ email pros across the industry subscribed
What about petition branding?
Your joint action petitions will feature your logo and brand colors. You can set them up and change them easily in the admin app.
Can hosts earn ad credits too?
Yes. As a host, on top of the opt-ins you’ll get from participant traffic, you’ll also earn $2.25 in Civic Shout ad credits for every signature you drive from your own list with your referral link—just like any participant would.
$2.25 gets you 3 clicks on nationally-targeted Civic Shout cost-per-click ads that use the “Sign Petition” button label.
Am I eligible to host?
If you’re a 501(c)(3), (c)(4), Democratic campaign, or PAC, you may be. Membership is free, but organizations must be invited into our host program to publish actions—we partner with select groups who:
- Run ethical email programs
- Publish actions that like-minded groups can get behind
- Can recruit strong groups to participate
- Want to host consistently
