Tell the EPA: Don’t Give Methane Polluters a Free Pass

Trump’s EPA just announced plans to roll back federal protections that reined in Big Oil’s methane pollution.

Methane is one of the most dangerous climate pollutants — more than 80 times more powerful than carbon dioxide over its first 20 years in the atmosphere. Yet, the EPA is preparing to weaken Biden-era rules that require oil and gas companies to find and fix methane leaks in their infrastructure.

Not only would this further intensify the effects of climate change but also expose communities to toxic pollutants linked to asthma, cancer, and other serious health risks.

Demand the EPA protect our health and our climate. Tell them Big Oil must be required to clean up their methane pollution.

EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin announced the plan at the New Mexico Oil and Gas Association’s annual meeting, bragging that the proposal would save the oil and gas industry $45 billion.

That tells us exactly who this rollback is for. The Trump administration wants to give Big Oil a free pass to pollute so billion-dollar corporations can increase their profits.

We cannot let them trade our health, our air, and our climate for higher profits. Sign the petition today and tell the EPA not to roll back critical methane protections.

The petition to the EPA reads: "Do not roll back federal methane protections for oil and gas operations. Keep strong rules requiring companies to find and fix methane leaks, protect communities from harmful air pollution, and hold Big Oil accountable for its role in the climate crisis."
