Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) just warned about plans for a possible new U.S. attack on Iran after the midterm elections that "will lead to a devastating escalation and the likely destruction of our commitment to the rule of law." His statement comes after Trump's repeated nuclear threats against Iran and the president’s talk of a potential escalation in military action. In response to the statements, 200 organizations from the U.S. and around the world are demanding that Congress intervene to stop the use of nuclear weapons against Iran. Even a single use of a nuclear weapon would have devastating consequences for all of humanity. Tell Congress to immediately use their constitutional authority to make it clear that it does not authorize the use of nuclear weapons in Iran. We can't trust Trump to take nuclear attacks off the table on his own. Though he stated that he would not use nuclear weapons against Iran on October 15, he has repeatedly made statements that sound like nuclear threats. Congress must use its power to prevent the Trump administration from escalating its undeclared war by passing laws to stop funding the military campaign and passing resolutions opposing continued strikes. Together, we can urge Congress to steer the Trump administration toward a new course focused on diplomacy to resolve the crisis instead of further destruction. Sign the petition and tell Congress to step up to stop Trump from a nuclear strike on Iran. The petition to Congress reads: "As Trump escalates his rhetoric threatening devastating strikes against Iran after the midterm election, Congress must act now to use its powers under the Constitution to make clear that it does not authorize or condone the use of nuclear weapons in Iran. Legislators must urge the Trump administration to change course toward diplomatic efforts."
