Tell Congress: No Cash Payments to January 6 Rioters

Donald Trump is still trying to send taxpayer money to the MAGA criminals who attacked the U.S. Capitol on January 6.

Trump’s Justice Department already backed down from its so-called "Anti-Weaponization Fund" after Republican opposition helped make the plan politically radioactive. Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche told lawmakers the fund was "not moving forward." But Trump is still pushing the idea anyway.

On Meet the Press, Trump said he "loves" the idea of compensating people he claims were unfairly targeted — and refused to rule out taxpayer-funded payments even for January 6 defendants accused of assaulting police officers. That is outrageous.

Tell Congress: Block any cash payments, settlement funds, or backdoor compensation for January 6 rioters now. Sign the petition and we'll deliver your signature to congressional leadership.

More than 140 law enforcement officers were injured during the attack on the Capitol. Rioters smashed windows, stormed barricades, beat police, threatened elected officials, and tried to stop the peaceful transfer of power. Now Trump wants to rewrite history by treating them like victims — and potentially rewarding them with public money.

Even Republicans know this is indefensible. Mitch McConnell said, "No one should excuse violence. And particularly violence against police officers." Mike Pence said violent January 6 rioters "never should have been pardoned” and “should never get a dime."

They’re right. Pardons were bad enough. Cash payouts would be even worse.

Congress controls federal spending. Lawmakers can pass legislation blocking any fund, settlement, appropriation, or administrative workaround that sends taxpayer money to January 6 offenders. They can also demand oversight of any DOJ process that could be used to quietly compensate Trump allies.

If Congress does nothing, Trump will keep looking for ways to turn violent political loyalty into a payday. That would insult the officers who defended the Capitol and encourage future attacks on democracy.

Add your name and demand Congress stop every attempt to pay January 6 rioters with our money.

The petition to Congress reads:

"Block any cash payments, settlement funds, or taxpayer-funded compensation for January 6 rioters. Do not allow Donald Trump or the Department of Justice to reward people who attacked police, stormed the Capitol, or tried to overturn an election."
