Stop Letting Deepfake Predators Off the Hook

Paris Hilton, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and a bipartisan group of lawmakers just stood together on Capitol Hill to demand action against AI deepfake abuse.

House Republicans should be moving this bill immediately. Instead, victims are still waiting — and Ocasio-Cortez says the reason is political. Republicans are blocking the bill because it was introduced by AOC, and because they do not want to give her a win.

That is shameful. The DEFIANCE Act would give survivors of nonconsensual sexual deepfakes the power to sue the people who create and spread these abusive images. The Senate has already passed the bill unanimously. The House version is bipartisan. And the need is urgent.

Tell Speaker Mike Johnson and House Republican leaders: Stop shielding predators from accountability. Allow a vote on the DEFIANCE Act.

Once again, just like with the Epstein files, Republicans are shielding predators from accountability for political reasons. Survivors are demanding justice. But GOP leaders keep choosing political games over protecting victims.

AI deepfake abuse is a form of sexual exploitation that can destroy reputations, traumatize victims, threaten jobs, and silence people through humiliation and fear. Women, girls, public figures, students, and private citizens are all at risk. And without strong legal consequences, predators will keep doing it.

Congress has a chance to act now. The DEFIANCE Act would close a dangerous loophole and give victims a real path to accountability, damages, and justice.
