Protect Wildlife Refuges from Trump's Corporate Land Deals

The Trump administration just gave 715 acres of the Lower Rio Grande Valley National Wildlife Refuge to SpaceX in exchange for 683 acres of land owned by the company.

The Lower Rio Grande Valley National Wildlife Refuge is part of a major wildlife corridor providing critical habitat for endangered ocelots, piping plovers, and aplomado falcons. 

SpaceX's rocket launches in the area have already caused damage to the fragile habitat. A 2023 launch explosion scattered concrete and metal debris across hundreds of acres and sparked a brush fire. Researchers studying shorebirds after the launch found damage or missing eggs at every monitored nest in the study area.

We cannot let the Trump administration trade our irreplaceable ecosystems to corporations. 

Tell Congress to put stronger safeguards in place to protect our National Wildlife Refuges. 

SpaceX's land deal also gives the company ownership of large portions of the Palmito Ranch Battlefield National Historic Landmark which is the place of the last battle of the Civil War. Now that this land has been privatized, SpaceX could choose not to preserve it or limit the public's access to the site. 

And it doesn't stop there. In addition to this deal with SpaceX, the Trump admin is also considering giving part of Yosemite to a private developer. 

Enough is enough – Congress must intervene. Sign our petition to tell Congress to stop Trump from giving away our sacred public lands to corporations.
