Thank the Judge for Defending Haitian TPS Holders

A federal judge just delivered a powerful rebuke to racism, fear-mongering, and unlawful abuse of power — and it deserves our gratitude.

U.S. District Judge Ana C. Reyes issued a last-minute stay blocking the Trump administration’s attempt to strip Temporary Protected Status (TPS) from up to 350,000 Haitian immigrants. In a clear, unflinching ruling, Judge Reyes called out the administration’s actions for what they are: rooted in hostility toward non-white immigrants and fueled by dehumanizing rhetoric.

Judge Reyes didn’t just apply the law — she named the truth. She rejected Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s vile language and reminded the court who Haitian TPS holders actually are: doctors, nurses, engineers, researchers, students, and workers contributing every day to their communities and to this country. Her ruling made it unmistakably clear that government policy cannot be driven by racism, lies, or political scapegoating.

TPS exists to protect people from being sent back to countries facing extraordinary danger. Ending Haiti’s designation — after years of instability, disaster, and hardship — would have torn families apart and upended lives with no lawful justification.
Judge Reyes stepped in to stop that harm and to reaffirm a basic principle: equal protection under the law applies to everyone.

Add your name to thank Judge Ana C. Reyes for standing up to racism, defending Haitian families, and upholding the rule of law, dignity, and justice when it mattered most.
