We thank Democratic governors like Kathy Hochul of New York, Josh Green of Hawaii, Wes Moore of Maryland, and Michelle Lujan Grisham of New Mexico for stepping up to support federal workers who have been unjustly laid off by the Trump administration. Tens of thousands of dedicated public servants—including scientists, engineers, educators, healthcare workers, and policy experts—have lost their jobs due to mass firings, despite their years of service to our country. Rather than abandoning these workers, Democratic governors have opened their state governments’ doors, creating pathways for them to continue serving the public. By organizing job fairs, launching recruitment campaigns, and fast-tracking hiring processes, these governors are investing in the future of their states and ensuring that experienced professionals are not left behind. Their leadership proves that public service matters and that expertise should be valued, not discarded. We stand with these governors and encourage other state and local leaders to follow their example in protecting workers, strengthening communities, and standing up to reckless federal policies.
