Then, the Harris campaign generated an unprecedented, record-breaking surge of donations and endorsements, with polls showing her leading or tying in many key swing states.

Now, Donald Trump is trying to find an excuse not to debate Vice President Harris head-to-head, by backing out of the previously agreed-upon ABC News debate and proposing a new one on the right-wing Fox News network.

Tell Donald Trump: Stop making excuses and commit to debating Kamala Harris.

During a recent "white women for Harris" organizing call with more than 160,000 people in attendance, the Trump campaign released a bizarre statement claiming that it would be "inappropriate to schedule things with Harris because Democrats very well could still change their minds."

But that's a different excuse from the one he gave just a few days earlier, when he said the debate shouldn't take place on ABC News, suggesting instead that it should be hosted by his friends at Fox News.

Previously, the Trump campaign had made other excuses for why Trump's deeply unpopular Vice Presidential nominee couldn't commit to debating Vice President Harris.

It's clear what's happening here: Donald Trump and J.D. Vance are scared of going head-to-head against Vice President Harris, and they are grasping at straws to find an excuse not to debate her.

As Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg put it, "he knows that if the two of them are on a stage together it's not going to end well for him."
