Tell the Treasury: Give Tariff Refunds to American Families

American consumers paid the price for Trump’s tariffs. Now that courts have declared them unconstitutional, it’s time for the Trump administration to pay us back.

Trump’s sweeping tariffs drove up the price of everyday goods—from appliances to car parts—acting like a hidden tax on American families and small businesses. While the administration claimed foreign countries would pay, economists made the reality clear: Americans were the ones footing the bill.

Right now, corporations are first in line for a refund of Trump’s illegal tariff dollars. But the governors of Massachusetts and Rhode Island are calling on Trump’s treasury to give the rest of us a refund, and it’s up to us to make sure it happens.

Major companies are already filing claims to recover tariff money through the courts. Without action, billions in refunds could flow to large corporations while the families who paid higher prices get nothing.

Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey and Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee have both called for a system that ensures residents—not just corporations—receive refunds of as much as $1,745. 

The Treasury Department has the power to design a fair refund system. But it will only happen if the public demands it.
