Tell the Supreme Court: Trump is Not Above the Law

Jack Smith, the special counsel overseeing the Justice Department's criminal investigations into Donald Trump, just asked the United States Supreme Court to make an emergency ruling on Trump's claim that he should be immune from prosecution.

According to CNN, "the extraordinary request is an attempt by Smith to keep the election subversion trial – currently scheduled for early March – on track."

This case has major implications not only for Trump's future, but also for the American people's confidence in our justice system.

"This case presents a fundamental question at the heart of our democracy: whether a former President is absolutely immune from federal prosecution for crimes committed while in office," Smith wrote in his legal filing.

While we don't know yet when the Supreme Court will weigh in, we do know that special counsel Smith has urged it to do so quickly so Trump's election interference trial can proceed as quickly as possible.
