On Monday, Trump’s Justice Department ran to the Supreme Court after lower courts blocked his attack on mail voting — asking the justices to let him force new restrictions into place before the midterms.

Trump’s emergency request is a direct threat to voting rights. Lower courts already blocked key parts of his executive order, but his administration is demanding fast action from the Supreme Court so it can force these changes into place before voters cast ballots in November.
