Tell the Senate: NO on Matt Gaetz!

The law gives the president of the United States the prerogative of nominating his Cabinet--but it also gives the Senate oversight of these choices.

President-elect Donald Trump has said he plans to nominate former Representative Matt Gaetz of Florida to be U.S. attorney general.

The U.S. attorney general heads up the Justice Department, and it is critical that person is independent from influence. Gaetz is the opposite of independent--he has been a MAGA sycophant of Trump's from the beginning.

Gaetz was also the subject of an investigation by the Justice Department over allegations he violated sex-trafficking laws during a trip to the Bahamas with paid escorts. He was under investigation by the House of Representatives into allegations of sexual misconduct, illicit drug use, and misuse of campaign funds.

Gaetz has every incentive to weaponize the Justice Department against his and Trump's enemies and use influence to further his own corruption.
