Tell the Senate: Don’t Abandon Seniors and Families

The Republican Party just launched a direct attack on the values we’ve spent our lives fighting for. The 2025 budget reconciliation bill, rushed through the House last week, slashes funding for affordable housing, rental assistance, and homelessness prevention. If the Senate doesn’t stop it, the consequences will be devastating.

These cuts hit the most vulnerable the hardest: fixed-income seniors, working families, and people with disabilities who rely on programs like Section 8 housing vouchers just to keep a roof over their heads. Without this help, thousands could face eviction and be forced onto the streets.

Cities across the country—from Cleveland to Seattle—are already sounding the alarm. Mayors say they’ll have no way to keep up with rising housing needs if these cuts become law. We’ve seen what happens when people fall through the cracks—and we cannot let history repeat itself.

The bill now heads to the Senate, where there’s still time to stop it. But we must act fast. Senate leaders are aiming to finalize it before the July 4th recess.
