Tell the NY Times: Stop the Pro-Trump Double Standard

The New York Times is once again showing a troubling double standard when it comes to its coverage of Donald Trump. While Trump continues to spread lies, make dangerous statements, and face numerous criminal investigations, the Times downplays these issues, failing to give them the serious attention they deserve. 

A prime example of this bias came this week when the Times barely covered a significant new legal filing from Special Counsel Jack Smith in Trump's ongoing criminal cases. Compare this to the way they obsessively covered Hillary Clinton’s leaked emails in 2016, plastering it across their front pages for weeks.

Tell the NY Times: Stop letting Trump off the hook. 

This kind of disparity distorts public perception. While readers are left fully aware of every minor controversy surrounding Democratic politicians, Trump's actions are often softened or pushed to the sidelines. 

The American public deserves better. We need journalism that calls out dangerous and criminal behavior in equal measure, not coverage that gives Trump a pass for conduct that threatens our democracy.

Even though the New York Times has endorsed Kamala Harris for president, its reporting often shields Trump from the scrutiny he deserves. By minimizing the importance of key developments, the Times is failing its readers and normalizing Trump’s behavior, setting a dangerous precedent.
