Tell the Forest Service: Stop the Mountain Valley Pipeline

The Mountain Valley Pipeline is a 300+ mile-long fracked-gas pipeline from Pennsylvania, through West Virginia & Virginia, all the way into North Carolina. The project is still years behind schedule and millions of dollars over budget. But that hasn't stopped Senator Joe Manchin and other fossil fueled politicians from putting their thumb on the scale to make sure the MVP gets permit after permit.

The defeated former President Trump administration ordered his Forest Service to clear the way for the MVP through federal lands in the Jefferson National Forest. But the courts rejected those Trump-era permits, and now the MVP is back asking for permission to build their dirty pipeline through our national forests lands.

Giving the MVP this permit would harm local wildlife, ecosystems, people and their access to clean, safe drinking water, not to mention the cumulative impact on our climate of millions of tons of global warming pollution if the pipeline is ever completed.

We have until February 6 to gather as many petition signatures and comments as we can, and convince the US Forest Service to just say NO to the Mountain Valley Pipeline this time.

The petition reads:
"RE: Mountain Valley Pipeline and Equitrans Expansion Project Supplemental EIS #50036
I urge the USFS to select Alternative 1 – No Action, because the Mountain Valley Pipeline is inconsistent with the Forest Plan and would require 11 amendments and exceptions to be built. Moreover, the Jefferson National Forest itself was established to restore and protect water quality and water resources in the region - a major pipeline and its attendant construction is obviously not compatible with this purpose. I urge the USFS to not amend the Jefferson National Forest Plan, and to not provide concurrence to the BLM for a ROW/TUP."
