Tell the FBI: Stop Letting Child Predators Off the Hook

Every child deserves to grow up safe. But right now, under Donald Trump’s reckless orders, FBI agents are being pulled away from investigating child predators and forced to instead support Trump’s attacks on immigrant communities.

MSNBC recently revealed that thousands of agents who once tracked down online child exploitation are now assigned to these political crackdowns. Meanwhile, the New York Times reported that federal prosecutors in Washington are being told to focus less on violent crimes and more on Trump’s agenda.

This is a betrayal of our most basic duty to protect children. When the FBI diverts resources away from stopping predators, it leaves countless kids vulnerable. Survivors and families warn that this shift gives predators more time to harm children—and makes it harder to bring abusers to justice.

The FBI Director and Department of Justice cannot stay silent. They must resist Trump’s political meddling and keep their agents focused on real threats to public safety. The FBI has discretion in how it assigns personnel and priorities. That means public pressure matters—loudly demanding that they put the safety of children before Trump’s political goals.

Time is running out. Every day these agents are chasing immigrants instead of predators is another day children remain at risk. That is unacceptable. The FBI has the power to restore its focus and protect the most vulnerable.
