"Flawed and incomplete." "Manipulated." "A sham." Those are the words a congressional report used about the Trump administration's alleged investigation into Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh when he was a nominee. It was, as we always suspected, a lie. But it isn't too late to rectify this wrong. It is essential that the FBI reopen its investigation and actually follow through to bring justice to everyone Kavanaugh harmed--including the American people. And they must reopen this investigation before Donald Trump can take office and shut it down. To recap what happened: When Justice Kavanaugh was nominated, Christine Blasey Ford bravely came forward to share her experience of having been assaulted by him. In public, Trump said that the FBI would be free to investigate the allegations, but behind closed doors he actually shut the inquiry down. These revelations cast yet another shadow on Kavanaugh's disastrous six years as a justice. From the Dobbs decision to countless other attacks on our rights, Kavanaugh has been at the forefront of the right-wing takeover of the court. Not only is a potential serial predator sitting on the highest court in the land--deciding the rights of the very women he once victimized--but the stories of countless survivors were summarily quashed by Trump's control of the FBI. Those stories must come to light now. It's unsurprising that Trump--himself a serial sexual predator--would protect another accused predator. But the FBI has the chance to do the right thing: Serve justice for any potential Kavanaugh survivors, investigate a potential serial predator, and follow up on more than 4,500 tips the bureau received during the brief investigation. We can’t undo history, but we have the opportunity to correct it. Join us in calling on the FBI to reopen the Kavanaugh investigation, and do it right this time!
