Tell the DOJ: Hands Off Abortion Pills

The Trump administration's Department of Justice is reportedly planning to ban abortion pills shortly after the midterm elections.

New reporting says White House officials told the Department of Justice to slow-walk abortion-related action before the midterms because a direct attack on medication abortion could alienate voters. But anti-abortion activists say they expect the gloves to come off after Election Day.

Medication abortion is used in the majority of abortions in the United States, and access to mifepristone has become a lifeline for patients since Roe was overturned.

Tell Attorney General Todd Blanche and the Department of Justice: Do not use the courts, the Comstock Act, or backroom political timing to restrict abortion pills.

The DOJ is already asking courts to pause cases challenging FDA rules that allow mifepristone to be prescribed by telehealth and delivered by mail. But instead of clearly defending access, the department is reportedly keeping its options open while anti-abortion groups push for a Victorian-era law to be revived as a backdoor nationwide abortion ban.

If the DOJ weaponizes the Comstock Act, patients in every state could lose access to abortion pills by mail — even in states where abortion remains legal. Clinics could face chaos. Patients could be forced to travel farther, wait longer, or carry pregnancies against their will.

The Department of Justice is supposed to defend the law and the rights of the American people, not help extremists hide an unpopular agenda until it is politically convenient.

Add your name now and demand the Department of Justice keep its hands off abortion pills.

The petition to Attorney General Todd Blanche and the Department of Justice reads: "Do not revive the Comstock Act, rescind protections for medication abortion, or use the Department of Justice to restrict access to mifepristone. Defend access to abortion pills and protect patients’ right to make their own reproductive healthcare decisions."
