Tell Susan Collins: Oppose ICE Invasion of Maine

ICE is preparing to expand operations in yet another state, Maine, and Senator Susan Collins is standing on the sidelines.

Under Donald Trump’s renewed immigration crackdown, federal officials are signaling a surge of ICE activity in Maine. State leaders and community advocates warn this will mean raids, fear, deaths, and families torn apart in towns that have worked hard to build trust and safety.

Senator Collins’ opponents, including Graham Platner and Governor Janet Mills, have already fiercely opposed the looming threat. But Collins has merely said she doesn’t “see the rationale.” That’s not good enough. And what happens in Maine now could determine what Trump and ICE get away with in more states.

Tell Senator Susan Collins: “Oppose expansion of ICE operations, demand transparency from DHS, and stand with all of us — not Trump’s politics of fear.”

Trump is treating Maine like a testing ground — using ICE as a political weapon to intimidate immigrant communities. Somali and immigrant families are already changing their lives. Parents are afraid to go to work. Children are afraid to go to school. People are skipping medical care because they fear arrest.

Local officials agree that aggressive ICE operations push people into the shadows, weaken cooperation with law enforcement, and destabilize entire communities.

As a senior U.S. senator, Collins has the power to demand oversight, challenge DHS, and publicly reject Trump’s intimidation tactics. Her willingness to fight – or her refusal – will affect Maine and every other state. She needs to know that we’re ready to hold her accountable if she fails to act.

Add your name now. Maine must not become a testing ground for mass deportation and cruelty.

The petition to Senator Susan Collins reads: “Oppose expansion of ICE operations, demand transparency from DHS, and stand with all of us — not Trump’s politics of fear.”
