Tell State Attorneys General: Block the Paramount Merger

The Trump Justice Department just rubber-stamped a massive media merger — and state attorneys general must step in before it is too late.

Paramount Skydance’s proposed takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery would combine CBS, CNN, HBO, Warner Bros., Paramount Pictures, Paramount+, HBO Max, and major cable networks under one sprawling corporate empire. It is a dangerous consolidation of news, entertainment, streaming, sports, and culture in the hands of fewer powerful people.

Even worse, this approval appears to have been political. Reports indicate Trump’s Justice Department overrode objections from its own antitrust experts, who had warned that the deal could harm competition.

But state attorneys general still have the power to act. They can investigate, sue, demand stronger scrutiny, and challenge corporate consolidation that threatens competition, workers, consumers, and the public’s right to independent journalism.
