Donald Trump wants more money for ICE — and he wants taxpayers to bankroll his White House vanity projects at the same time.

Senate Republicans are preparing to push through new immigration enforcement funding. But then backlash erupted over Trump’s massive ballroom security proposal. He wants more money for deportation raids and more money for his own gilded priorities.

That is outrageous. Families are struggling with rent, groceries, healthcare, and childcare. Congress should not shovel taxpayer dollars into cruelty or a billionaire president’s ballroom.

ICE and Border Patrol already have enormous power and too little accountability. More money without serious oversight means more raids, more detention, more family separation, and more immigrant communities living in fear.

And Trump’s ballroom scheme makes the self-dealing impossible to miss. He is trying to use a government funding fight to fund his own priorities while demanding even more power to target immigrant families.
