Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) was just caught intentionally impersonated a utility to trick people into opening his fundraising emails. "Your heat will be turned off. Emergency Notice," read one email. It's hard to imagine a less ethical campaign tactic than using the fear of having your heat turned off in the winter to scam people into opening a fundraising email. Sign the petition urging Sen. Tim Scott to stop scamming his constituents and other potential supporters. Ironically, the South Carolina Department of Consumer Affairs recently warned residents that utility scams of this nature typically start happening this time of year. "Utility imposters will tell you that your bill is late and your power will be cut off immediately, if you don’t pay right now... don’t fall for it," the warning read. While this type of scam tactic is clearly unethical and a bad way to treat your potential supporters, it's particularly bad given the economic uncertainty many South Carolina residents are facing now. Sign the petition urging Sen. Tim Scott to stop sending scammy and deceptive fundraising emails.
