Tell Republicans: Stop Suppressing Veterans’ Votes

In December, Michigan’s Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer issued an executive order designating several Veterans Affairs hospitals as voter registration rights.

“I am fully committed to protecting the fundamental right to vote, making participation in our democracy more accessible, combating misinformation, and empowering all eligible voters to make their voices heard,” Gov. Whitmer said at the time.

Now, in a shameful move, the Republican National Committee has filed a lawsuit claiming that the voter registration sites are invalid and should be shut down.

That’s right: The Republican Party is literally suing a Democratic governor to try to make it harder for military veterans to vote.

In their ridiculous lawsuit, the RNC argues that having more voter registration sites “undermines the integrity of elections by increasing the opportunity for individuals to register to vote even though they are ineligible to do so.”

In reality, it’s a pathetic attempt on veterans and voting rights from a desperate political party doing everything it can to hang onto power.
