As conservative judges and state legislatures continue dismantling the right to abortion care, 12 Senate Democrats are calling on Pres. Biden to use his executive authority to protect the right to choose. In a letter spearheaded by Sens. Elizabeth Warren and Mazie Hirono, a dozen Senate Democrats outlined 11 steps the Biden administration can take right now without an act of Congress. The recommendations include issuing guidance detailing Americans’ right to travel across state lines for an abortion, strengthening health privacy protections and revoking Trump-era executive orders. “It is critical that you continue to take whatever steps are within your authority to protect reproductive freedom,” the Senate Democrats wrote.
