The Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) is long overdue. Ratified by the 38th state in 2020, the ERA fulfills all constitutional requirements to become the 28th Amendment. Yet, despite decades of advocacy and a clear mandate from the American people, the ERA has yet to be certified and published as part of the Constitution. President Biden has the power to change that—and he must act now. The ERA would enshrine gender equality in the Constitution, providing a critical safeguard against discrimination on the basis of sex. It would strengthen protections for women, girls, LGBTQ+ individuals, and other marginalized communities, while ensuring that everyone is treated equally under the law. In a time when hard-won rights are under attack, the ERA is more vital than ever. A group of Senators recently wrote, “We cannot let disingenuous and deceptive arguments about procedure stand in the way of basic human rights and dignity. We must answer the call to uphold equality and strengthen women’s rights by certifying the ERA.” Their call to action reflects the urgent need to take this historic step toward justice and equality. We cannot wait any longer. Generations of Americans have fought for gender equality, and it’s time to deliver. Certifying the ERA is a powerful statement that the U.S. is committed to fairness, justice, and equal rights for all. We call on President Biden to direct the National Archivist to certify and publish the Equal Rights Amendment. The ERA is a promise to future generations that equality is not optional—it’s a fundamental right. Sign this petition to demand action on the ERA. Let’s ensure that equal rights are finally enshrined in the Constitution where they belong.
