The New York Times just ran a hit piece on NYC Assemblymember Zohran Mamdani — sourced from hacked records and anonymous input from a race-science enthusiast — questioning his racial identity while downplaying the extremist, IQ-based ideology behind the source. Rather than checking their facts or disclosing the source’s racist history, the Times legitimized junk science in its reporting. Playing footsie with eugenicist ideas isn’t journalism. By relying on leaked documents from someone who defends theories of Black inferiority — and then granting them undeserved anonymity — the Times has betrayed its ethical duty to rigor and transparency. We call on the Times to retract this smear, fully disclose the ideological background of its source, and establish clear policies against amplifying racial pseudoscience. Media credibility depends on rejecting bias — not reinforcing it. Add your name to demand accountability from the New York Times.
