On Saturday, October 17th, Meta pulled down the No Kings Coalition’s Instagram account. While millions across the country rallied for early voting, Meta froze and removed the coalition’s main Instagram account for roughly 90 minutes without any explanation or response. And even after the account was restored and an apology was issued, administrators were still without access for four hours. The result: Millions who showed up for their early voting rally lost their microphone. Meta silenced a nationwide protest, and regardless of the reason, it can’t happen again.
