Tell Media: Reject Dangerous Denials of International Law

Over on Fox News, a host recently declared that “there’s no such thing as international law — there's only such thing as who has power,” dismissing the entire framework of legal norms that govern war crimes, human rights, and global accountability. Conservative commentators across the internet are echoing this dangerous sentiment in the wake of Venezuelan President Maduro's abduction.

Treating this kind of rhetoric as casual discourse — or worse, as an acceptable alternative viewpoint — misinforms the public about basic legal principles that protect people and nations. Media outlets that repeat or normalize these claims without correction are failing their responsibility to explain the difference between political opinion and established law.

Add your name to demand that journalists and news outlets explicitly push back on claims that international law “doesn’t exist” — and provide clear, fact-based context on global legal norms instead of amplifying dangerous distortion.
