Tell ICE: End the New Surge. And Turn On the Cameras.

This past weekend, DHS announced a new ICE surge into 11 states and D.C.

But how many agents will be involved? Where? And for how long? DHS hasn't said.

It only said this: agents "will continue to arrest any and all illegal aliens that come into our path." DHS claims it's going after criminals. But most people ICE has arrested under Trump had no criminal record or only minor offenses.

We know how these surges end. In Minneapolis this year, federal agents killed two American citizens. Last week in Austin, an ICE officer shot a DoorDash driver. He'd been issued a body camera. He wasn't wearing it. And near Chicago, a U.S. citizen was left bloodied on the side of the road after agents mistook him for a fugitive, according to local police.

Tell ICE: End this surge now, before more people are illegally detained and killed. And require that cameras be turned on, on every agent, every time.

Immigration agents have shot at least 20 people since Trump returned to office. And ICE still isn't required to wear body cameras, even though Republicans and Democrats in Congress have backed them. Even the Trump White House offered to expand them this spring.

No cameras means no record. No record means no accountability.

DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin doesn't need Congress to act. He can end this surge today. And he can require every immigration agent, everywhere, to wear an activated body camera during every enforcement action.
