A Federal judge just tossed out Elon Musk's lawsuit targeting a nonprofit that had published reports about the proliferation of hate speech on Musk's X platform, which was previously known as Twitter. “This case is about punishing the Defendants for their speech,” District Judge Charles Breyer wrote in a damning 52 page order. While the case's dismissal is a positive development, it won't stop Musk from using the platform to spread and amplify vicious lies and conspiracy theories. As the New York Times put it, Musk recently "echoed several of Trump’s claims about the American voting system, putting forth distorted and false notions that American elections were wide open for fraud and illegal voting by noncitizens." At the same time, Musk has emboldened those who traffic in lies and hate speech, welcoming once-banned white supremacists and deranged conspiracy theorists like Alex Jones back to the platform. We can't allow these lies to go unchecked. Add your name to the petition demanding that Elon Musk stops using X to spread lies and conspiracy theories.
