Democrats just won control of the House and Senate in a massive election victory. Americans demanded change—and relief from costs they cannot afford. That includes healthcare. Reversing Trump’s Medicaid cuts and restoring Affordable Care Act assistance must be urgent priorities. But families were drowning in medical bills before those cuts. Returning to a broken status quo is not enough. Real relief means seeing a doctor without sacrificing rent, filling prescriptions without skipping groceries, and getting treatment without fearing financial ruin. Making healthcare affordable must be at the heart of delivering the change Americans demanded. Tell Democratic leaders: Use your new majority to fight for Medicare for All. Make guaranteed healthcare a priority in the next Congress. Medicare for All champion Abdul El-Sayed is headed to the Senate, alongside other newly elected Democrats who campaigned on expanding public coverage. Democratic leaders must build on that momentum and turn promises of affordable care into legislative action. For families facing crushing premiums and deductibles, an insurance card does not guarantee affordable care. Coverage tied to a job offers little security when a layoff can take it away. Nobody should have to gamble their health against their ability to pay the bills. Trump still holds the veto pen, and congressional obstacles remain. But Democratic leaders must put Medicare for All on the agenda, hold public hearings, and pursue committee and floor votes. They should use their power to fight for ambitious, long-term solutions and immediate relief. Add your name: Tell Democrats to deliver the affordable healthcare Americans demanded—and fight for Medicare for All. The petition to congressional Democratic leaders reads: “Fight for immediate healthcare relief by reversing Medicaid cuts and restoring Affordable Care Act assistance. Make Medicare for All a legislative priority, hold public hearings, and pursue committee and floor votes. Use your majority to fight for guaranteed, affordable healthcare for everyone.”
