Tell Democrats to Protect Consumers from Corporate Greed

Russell Vought, Director of the Office of Management and Budget and Acting Director of the CFPB, has vowed to shut down the Bureau, ordering staff to suspend exams, freeze new rules, and halt investigations. At the same time, Congress is moving to slash the agency’s funding by nearly half. These are coordinated efforts to dismantle the only federal agency that protects Americans from predatory lenders and financial abuse.

When voters speak up, Democrats listen. By building public pressure, we can force Democrats in Congress — especially those on the House Financial Services and Senate Banking Committees — to take a clear stand against these attacks and defend the CFPB before it’s too late.

The CFPB has already returned more than $21 billion to consumers cheated by big banks, debt collectors, and credit card companies. It’s fought discrimination in lending, cracked down on junk fees, and protected veterans, homeowners, and borrowers nationwide.

We call on Democratic leaders to reject any effort to defund, furlough, or weaken the CFPB, and to move quickly to safeguard its independence and authority through legislation.

The stakes couldn’t be higher. If the CFPB is gutted now, millions of Americans will lose their most powerful financial watchdog. We need action now — before it’s too late.
