Tell Democrats: No New Abortion Restrictions in ACA Talks

Republican leaders, including Sen. John Thune, are demanding tighter abortion limits as the price for keeping ACA subsidies in place, even though the Hyde Amendment already blocks federal funding for abortion. This is a manufactured crisis designed to use essential health care as leverage. Democrats in both chambers — especially those directly at the negotiating table — must stand firm and refuse any deal that trades away reproductive freedom.

The threat is real and immediate. The ACA subsidies expire at the end of the year, and without action, premiums could spike for up to 24 million Americans. Allowing Republicans to rewrite abortion policy during a must-pass deadline would set a dangerous precedent and harm patients nationwide.
