The Trump administration is proposing a new “Office of Remigration” within the State Department. This terminology, adopted by neo-Nazis and far-right extremists, is a euphemism for mass deportations rooted in ethnic‑cleansing ideology. Mainstream outlets have largely ignored the extremist history of this proposal, downplaying its links to white‑supremacist movements. This silence is dangerous, and enables the formalization of an authoritarian agenda. Journalists have a duty to report on both the proposed policy and its troubling ideological roots — to inform the public before irreversible actions are taken. We demand that media organizations shine a spotlight on the office of remigration. Only with full transparency can we preserve democratic norms and protect vulnerable communities from extremist policymaking.
