Tell Congressional Democrats: Defend Climate Action

We’re at a pivotal moment in the fight for climate justice — and the stakes just got a whole lot higher. A growing chorus inside the Democratic Party is quietly suggesting that maybe, in an election year, climate shouldn’t be such a priority. Maybe it’s too “risky.” Maybe we should talk about it less.

But here’s the truth: that’s exactly the wrong direction.

Despite overwhelming public demand for action and climate disasters piling up by the week, too many Democrats are suddenly signaling they might toss ambitious climate policy overboard to protect their own political skins.

Fueling this retreat is a wave of billionaire-backed, self-anointed “centrists” who are shouting that Democrats should stop talking about climate altogether — claiming voters don’t care and backing it up with wildly cherry-picked polling that pits unpopular ideas like “create a carbon tax” against guaranteed crowd-pleasers like “lower the gas tax.”

It’s a manufactured narrative meant to scare our leaders into silence, even though the data is crystal clear: voters do care deeply about climate, and abandoning it now isn’t just morally indefensible — it’s a strategic disaster.

Evidence shows that voters still care deeply about climate change, and the progressive movement must ensure that their elected officials recognize that. (Yes, there’s even a recent analysis demonstrating the strategic folly of abandoning climate as a priority.)

Here’s the reality: if Democrats flip-flop now—pushing aside climate protections and clean-energy commitments—they not only betray millions of impacted families and frontline communities; they hand the fossil-fuel industry a lucrative lifeline at the exact moment when we need to pull the plug.

Our senators and representatives need to hear these messages loud and clear:

* Don’t abandon climate ambition in pursuit of short-term electoral gains.

*    Our green future isn’t a convenient talking point—it’s a mandate.

* We’ll remember who stood with our kids, our communities, and the planet.

This isn’t about pointing fingers—it’s about showing our leaders that we’re watching, we’re energized, and we won’t settle for empty promises or weak compromises. The stakes are too high: melting ice sheets, extreme heat, catastrophic storms, and the fossil-fuel profiteers who are banking on our apathy.

Please sign this petition to tell Democrats in Congress to hold the line on climate.
