Tell Congress to Stop the Privatization of the NWS

The NWS, which issues life-saving alerts during hurricanes, floods, and wildfires, is under threat of being sold to Trump-linked billionaires. If they succeed, critical forecasts could become a paid service—available only to those who can afford it.

NWS is already under strain from staffing shortages and budget cuts. Handing it over to Wall Street cronies would gut the system entirely. Private companies simply can’t replace their 24/7 nationwide infrastructure—they rely on NWS data to function.

We’re watching deadly floods unfold in Texas. Even more deaths would have occurred were it not for public warnings — warnings now at risk of being lost.

Congress must act now: stop privatization, boost NWS funding, and investigate clear conflicts of interest tied to Trump’s allies.
