It is our national shame that the leading cause of death for kids in America is gun violence. Thankfully, the Biden administration is taking decisive action to address the issue — but Congress needs to step up and do its part to keep guns from killing our kids. One way they can do that is by passing Ethan’s Law, named in honor of a 15-year-old who died after accidentally shooting himself. The law would require gun owners to store their guns safely, in order to prevent kids from getting them and hurting themselves or others. Tell Congress to pass Ethan’s Law ASAP! “Our goal in passing Ethan’s Law is to create a cultural shift where it becomes second nature for gun owners to secure their weapons if they are not in their immediate control. This law will not stop all the shootings, but it will stop many, and to those children and parents, that is priceless,” said Ethan’s grieving mother, Kristin Song. 76% of all school shootings, 80% of all child suicides, and 76% of all accidental shootings are committed with guns found by kids in their homes. If we’re ever going to curb the epidemic of gun violence that takes so many of our children’s lives, gun owners need to start being held responsible for the deadly weapons they treat so recklessly. Tell Congress to keep guns out of the hands of children!
