Tell Congress: Stop Trump Cuts to LGBTQ+ Suicide Prevention

The Trump administration just pulled the plug on a lifeline for LGBTQ+ youth.

In a stunning attack on LGBTQ+ mental health support, the Department of Health and Human Services is ending its partnership with The Trevor Project and slashing LGBTQ-specific help from the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

This drastic shift is both cruel and deadly. LGBTQ+ youth are over four times more likely to attempt suicide than their peers. The Trevor Project’s trained crisis counselors have been a vital resource, offering affirming, life-saving support. Now, Trump’s team claims a generic hotline is “good enough.” It’s not.

Tell Congress: “Block Trump’s cruel cuts to LGBTQ+ suicide prevention. No child deserves to die by suicide. Every child deserves care.”

This change is just one part of a ruthless political campaign to erase LGBTQ+ people from public life. At the very moment when hate crimes and anti-trans laws are surging, this administration is cutting a rare federal safety net designed for LGBTQ+ youth in crisis.

Congress can stop this. Lawmakers must immediately restore funding for LGBTQ-specific suicide prevention and demand that the 988 Lifeline include affirming, specialized care. Lives are at stake. Every hour of inaction puts more young people in danger.

We can’t let hate dictate who gets to survive.

Add your name to demand Congress protect LGBTQ+ youth from this escalating attack and restore suicide prevention services.
