Tell Congress: Stop the Medicaid Contractor Cash Grab

Trump and Republicans are gutting healthcare for millions of Americans. Now, big corporations stand to rake in taxpayer money by helping take people’s coverage away.

A new report from Senate Finance Committee Democrats exposes troubling failures among companies that build, operate, or support Medicaid enrollment systems. Investigators warn that contractor errors have wrongly stripped eligible people of coverage. Now these companies stand to make more money implementing Trump’s new restrictions.

The investigation examined Deloitte, Gainwell, General Dynamics Information Technology, Conduent, and Maximus. According to the report, none supplied the requested historical data on people their systems flagged as ineligible or meaningful details about accuracy testing.

Patients should not have to gamble their healthcare on systems these companies won’t explain. Congress must demand more than answers—it must impose enforceable protections before more eligible people lose care.

Tell Congress: Stop the Medicaid contractor cash grab. Protect patients and make these companies answer for the harm their failures cause.

States are racing toward a January 1 deadline to implement new work-reporting requirements. A worker juggling unpredictable shifts or a parent caring for a sick child could lose coverage over a missing document or processing mistake.

Imagine arriving for cancer treatment or trying to refill insulin, only to discover your insurance is gone. Then imagine learning that the company behind the broken system is collecting more taxpayer dollars.

Senate Democrats have exposed the failures. But a report alone cannot protect someone’s next prescription. Congress must turn these findings into binding requirements: independent audits, public contracts and performance records, and financial penalties for contractor errors that wrongly terminate coverage. Companies must pay to correct their mistakes, and people wrongly removed must have their coverage promptly restored.

Those safeguards address contractor failures. Congress must also repeal the work-reporting requirements that create more barriers to care even when the systems work as designed.

Corporate profits cannot come before someone’s next dose of medicine.

Add your name: Demand that Congress put patients before corporate greed.

The petition to Congress reads:

“Repeal the new Medicaid work-reporting requirements. Require independent audits, public contracts and performance records, and financial penalties for contractor errors that wrongly terminate coverage. Make contractors pay to correct their mistakes and require prompt restoration of coverage for eligible people wrongly removed because of those errors.”
