Tell Congress: Stop Mullin’s Authoritarian Election Threats

Trump’s Homeland Security secretary just threatened election officials with fines, penalties, and even prison time if they refuse to comply with the administration’s election demands.

Secretary Markwayne Mullin said states could lose federal election funding unless they implement the administration’s so-called "mandatory" changes, including voter roll purges and machine requirements. Then he escalated, warning that election officials who do not cooperate could face punishment — including prison time.

Congress cannot let the Department of Homeland Security threaten state and local election officials into carrying out Trump’s political agenda. Our elections must be run by the law, not by fear.
