Tell Congress: Restore the National Environmental Policy Act

Donald Trump just ripped the teeth out of one of America’s strongest environmental laws — and Congress must act now to stop it.

The Trump administration has finalized sweeping rollbacks to the National Environmental Policy Act, the law that for over 50 years has forced the federal government to examine environmental harm and listen to the people affected before approving major projects. These changes fast-track pipelines, mines, highways, and fossil fuel projects while cutting communities out of the process.

But Congress can stop this. Lawmakers can restore NEPA’s full protections, block funding for the rollback, and make clear that environmental review and community input are not optional.

Tell Congress: “Restore the National Environmental Policy Act. Reverse Trump’s rollback, protect communities, and defend the law that puts people before polluters.” Sign now and demand action.

NEPA is simple and powerful: it demands regulators and businesses look before they leap. It protects clean air and water, requires agencies to consider climate impacts, and gives communities a voice when their health and land are on the line. Trump’s rollback does the opposite — rushing approvals, silencing public input, and greenlighting pollution.

The fallout will hit hardest where it always does: low-income communities, Indigenous nations, and communities of color already overburdened by toxic exposure and climate disasters. Once projects are approved under these weakened rules, the damage is permanent.

Congress now faces a choice: Will it let Trump hand polluters a free pass while stripping the public of its right to be heard? Or will it protect our environment and our democracy?

Sign now and tell Congress to protect our future by restoring the National Environmental Policy Act.

The petition to Congress reads: “Restore the National Environmental Policy Act. Reverse Trump’s rollback, protect communities, and defend the law that puts people before polluters.”
