A federal appeals court has cleared the way for the Trump administration to cut Medicaid funding to Planned Parenthood health centers across 22 states and Washington, D.C. The result? At least 20 health centers have already closed, and more than 1 million patients risk losing access to essential healthcare services including cancer screenings, STI testing, contraception, and preventive care. While Medicaid doesn't fund abortion services, this provision punishes healthcare providers for offering comprehensive reproductive healthcare—and low-income patients are paying the price with reduced access to basic preventive medicine. States are warning that cutting off these healthcare providers will increase costs as patients lose access to preventive screenings and birth control, leading to more expensive emergency care down the line. Healthcare access shouldn't be a political weapon. Tell Congress to restore Medicaid funding for essential healthcare services now.
