Congress is considering a dangerous censorship bill, and we have to stop it before it gains momentum. Backed by the Anti‑Defamation League, the STOP HATE Act would fine social media platforms up to $5 million per day for failing to remove content labeled “terrorist”—even if it’s peaceful criticism of Israel. The bill’s vague language gives the government sweeping power to pressure platforms into censoring anyone who speaks out for Palestinian rights or questions U.S. support for Israel. Common Dreams reports the bill would “force social media companies to censor criticism of Israel on their platforms.” Reason points out the fines are so extreme, companies will censor first and ask questions never. It’s one more dangerous step toward silencing dissent, and we have to stop it. Tell Congress: “Censorship has no place in our country. Reject the STOP HATE Act.” Introduced by Reps. Josh Gottheimer and Don Bacon, the STOP HATE Act doesn’t define what constitutes “terrorist content” clearly. Instead, it outsources enforcement to designated “trusted flaggers,” which could include politically motivated groups. This is how democratic freedoms are eroded—quietly, and in the name of safety. The bill is already sparking outrage across the country. But unless we push back now, lawmakers may allow vague language and fear-mongering to open the door to widespread censorship—especially of voices critical of U.S. foreign policy and Israeli government actions. We can’t let that happen. Join us in demanding Congress reject this assault on our First Amendment rights. Lawmakers must stand up to special interests and refuse to back legislation that punishes free speech and shields a foreign government from accountability. Add your name now to defend the right to speak out, protest, and question U.S. foreign policy without fear of punishment. Tell Congress to reject the STOP HATE Act now. The petition to Congress reads: “Censorship has no place in our country. Reject the STOP HATE Act.”
