Tell Congress: Keep Politics Out of School Funding

The administration illegally froze over $6 billion in federal education funds—money already approved by Congress—and only reversed course after lawsuits, protests, and media outrage. However, not all of the funds have been released, and it’s not clear what these promised “guardrails” will look like.

This power grab has hurt students, families, and educators. Districts were forced to cancel summer school, lay off staff, and slash essential services. Some had to sue just to access funds that belonged to them.

Republican leaders in Congress are pushing for new restrictions on how schools can use federal aid.

Congress must act now to stop political games from wrecking our public schools. 

Tell Congress: “Keep politics out of school funding. Keep the pressure on to ensure that every single dollar allocated to our public schools is released immediately, without political restrictions.”

This power grab is a direct assault on public education. Federal funds are lifelines for students, especially in low-income and marginalized communities. Delaying or blocking them puts millions of kids at risk.

Congress must step in now. Lawmakers must hold the Trump administration accountable and pass laws to make sure no president can hijack school funding for political gain ever again.
