Tell Congress: Keep ICE Away From the Polls

Donald Trump’s Homeland Security secretary is refusing to rule out sending ICE agents to polling places during the midterms.

Markwayne Mullin doubled down on CNN when asked whether ICE could appear at the polls, saying agents could be deployed if officials claim a "threat" has arisen. That vague excuse should alarm every voter.

ICE is not an election agency. Its presence at polling sites would terrify immigrant families, chill eligible voters, and turn the simple act of casting a ballot into a show of federal force.

This is how voter suppression works: not always by banning people from voting outright, but by making them afraid to show up. Congress must make clear that ICE has no place at polling locations and that immigration enforcement cannot be used as a political weapon in our elections.

Tell Congress: "Pass emergency protections to keep ICE and other immigration agents away from polling places, prevent voter intimidation, and defend every eligible voter’s right to cast a ballot safely."

The right to vote belongs to citizens — and eligible voters should never have to wonder whether armed federal agents will be waiting outside. Naturalized citizens, mixed-status families, Latino communities, immigrant neighborhoods, and voters who already face harassment could be especially vulnerable to fear and intimidation.

Federal law already restricts armed federal officers at polling places, but the Trump administration’s refusal to clearly rule this out shows why Congress must act now.

The 2026 midterms are too important to leave this threat unanswered. If Congress waits until Election Day, the damage may already be done.

Add your name now and demand Congress protect voters from ICE intimidation before the midterms.

The petition to Congress reads: "Pass emergency protections to keep ICE and other immigration agents away from polling places, prevent voter intimidation, and defend every eligible voter’s right to cast a ballot safely."
