Tell Congress: Increase Social Security Benefits

According to a heartbreaking new estimate from the University of Massachusetts-Boston’s Elder Index, roughly half of older Americans who live alone don't have enough income to pay for health care, food, housing and transportation.

At 54 percent, the percentage of older women struggling to get by is even higher than the 45 percent figure for older men.
