Tell Congress: Defend Gender-Affirming Care to Save Lives

The Supreme Court just gave a green light to discriminate against transgender kids and teens. 

By upholding Tennessee’s cruel ban on gender-affirming care for trans youth, they’ve opened the floodgates for more states to strip trans kids of life-saving healthcare.

It’s bigotry dressed up as law. Every major medical organization agrees: gender-affirming care saves lives. But six justices chose ideology over evidence—and trans youth will pay the price.

Tell Congress: “Pass federal protections for gender-affirming care now. Stand up for trans lives—and the Equal Protection Clause—before more are lost.”

As Justice Sotomayor warned in her dissent, this decision “invites legislatures to engage in discrimination by hiding blatant sex classifications in plain sight.” And extremist lawmakers across the country are already racing to copy Tennessee’s law. 

But although the Court’s ruling is a significant blow to trans lives and equal protection under the law, it doesn’t stop Congress from protecting our rights. Lawmakers must pass federal protections for gender-affirming care and ensure no state can criminalize identity or target trans youth for political gain.
