Donald Trump just pledged $10 billion of our taxpayer money to a brand-new, unaccountable “Board of Peace” — and Congress never voted on it. Multiple outlets report that Trump plans to funnel $10 billion to this hastily formed body to shape Gaza’s future — a sum roughly twelve times what the U.S. contributes annually to the United Nations. The board has already convened, despite serious questions about its authority, structure, and oversight. But it’s Congress, not the president, that controls federal spending. It’s time for them to reassert that authority and ensure that funds for diplomacy benefit all of us, not just Trump’s ego. Tell Congress: “Block funding for Trump’s so-called ‘Board of Peace.’ No taxpayer dollars without full authorization, transparency, and strict oversight.” If Trump can invent a new international group and promise it billions without authorization, what stops the next president from doing the same? Today it’s a “peace board.” Tomorrow it could be anything. Ten billion dollars could fund housing, healthcare, or food assistance here at home, or true diplomacy through the United Nations. Instead, Trump is trying to push it out the door without full debate, transparency, or guardrails. Congress has the power to block or restrict these funds, but only if we demand it. Add your name now and demand Congress defend its constitutional power of the purse and put real diplomacy first, before a single dollar leaves the Treasury. The petition to Congress reads: “Block funding for Trump’s so-called ‘Board of Peace.’ No taxpayer dollars without full authorization, transparency, and strict oversight.”
