Tell Congress: Ban Bump Stocks

Bump stocks exist to make semi-automatic weapons more deadly by enabling them to fire in more rapid succession. They were used by the shooter in one of the most horrific mass shootings in United States history, which took place in 2018 in Las Vegas.

That's why the Department of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms enacted a regulation to ban the devices in 2019, during the Trump administration.

But now, in a 6-3 decision split neatly along ideological lines, the Supreme Court struck down the regulation prohibiting bump stocks, needlessly putting Americans at increased risk of gun violence.

Congress can fix this by passing legislation. All it takes is political will. Tell Congress: Ban bump stocks now.

"This is a horrible decision that will undoubtedly result in more gun deaths," said Congressional Progressive Caucus Chair Pramila Jayapal.

"SCOTUS has blood on its hands," said Rep Rashida Tlaib. "This unhinged Supreme Court needs to stop legislating from the bench."

"Congress must act swiftly to pass a bump stocks ban," added Rep. Maxwell Frost. "Time to organize."
